Before the  Clayton Community Library Book Club closes a session, there is usually a lively discussion of what we’ve been reading individually, beyond our assigned titles. A few months ago Donna Buessing, a long-time member of the group, raved about The Orphan Master’s Son. Although I had an Advance Reader’s Edtion, it hadn’t yet been read or reviewed. It was a natural reaction to then suggest that Donna write her own review to be posted on Bookin’ with Sunny. Here it is, Donna’s review of Adam Johnson’s The Orphan Master’s Son.

Donna grew up on a farm where reading was her preferred escape from farm work. She has been an elementary school teacher and insurance broker. She lives in Clayton, CA, with her husband Roger and her two golden retreivers, Casey (in the photo) and Gracie. Donna’s favorite reads are historical fiction and  history. In addition to reading, she loves gardening and cooking.
