To all of you who have read and value Wallace Stegner’s writing, fiction and nonfiction, I have an important announcement and plea for support. A few weeks ago I was told about the planned demolition of the Stegner study where he wrote much of his work in the Los Altos hills. Since then, I’ve been on the email list of those who would like to prevent the destruction of such an important part of California’s literary history.
The Los Altos Hills Historical Society has agreed to oversee the funding for the project to preserve this piece of our American literary history. The project to save the Stegner study has just begun. I have a feeling that it will succeed and in addition to being a part of that success, think of how much fun it will be to see exactly how this process works.
Please take a look at the Los Altos Hills Historical Society site and consider contributing to this important effort. Be assured that if the project does not come to fruition, all donations will be returned.
I am so happy to offer all who are interested a chance to be a part of this important project.
