  1. Sunny, Please add to your list of books for the group’s consideration The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet by David Mitchell. It is a wonderful historic novel re the Dutch East India Co’s. presence in Japan’s single port and “window to the world” in 1799. It is an epic tale of “sacrificial love and clashing civilizations”. I love Mitchell’s writing and would be willing to introduce the book at Book Club if it is chosen.

  2. Greetings! Here are the books suggested for the next few months:
This Rock by Robert Morgan; Sense of an Ending by Julian Ending; Girl Reading by Katie Ward; Claude and Camille by Stephanie Cowell; Sky of Red Poppies by Zohren Ghahromani; Street Sweeper by Elliot Perlman; State of Wonder by Ann Patchett; Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman; The Thousand Autumns of Jacob Zoet by David Mitchell; Marmie and Louisa – by Eve LaPlante (Not yet in paper); Wolf Hall and/or Bring up the Bodies (Not yet in paper) by Hilary Mantel.

I’ve noted the books that are not yet available in paper. Please look up the books, reviews are a great source, and when we meet in March, let’s vote for the next three. They would fit for May, June & July. I looked up Hornby’s commitment to write the screenplay for Strayed’s Wild, but I couldn’t find a date when it would first show, so we may have been premature in looking to see the movie and compare it to the book this summer.

What a great meeting last night and Welcome Becca from Ohio. Hopefully we will have her sister Bethanne join us online when she returns to Ohio.

If I left anything out, email me or just add it in a comment on the book club page.
